How do they set up the internet at my home?
To get internet to your place, we run a special fiber line from the mainline in your neighbourhood. This takes about 7-10 business days. If your home was built after 2015, there is usually a box outside that helps bring the fiber inside. If it is older, we will check out your place and find the best way to bring the fiber inside.
Once inside, our tech installs a thing called an Optical Network Terminal (ONT). This changes the fiber into a cable that connects to your router. The ONT needs power, so if the electricity goes out, the internet will not work until it is back. You can buy a backup battery to avoid this.
Next, our tech connects your router with a cable to set up Wi-Fi. They find the best spot for the router to spread Wi-Fi in your home. They also help you connect your devices to the new Wi-Fi.
